About The Position

The Emerson Elementary School Site Director is responsible for managing and supervising the MSCR Afterschool and Enrichment programming during the school year and serving as the summer program director. This role involves designing, implementing, and overseeing various enrichment programs, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and fostering a safe and supportive environment for students and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and at least two years of post high school education in recreation, education, community organizing, volunteer coordination, related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of related experience in developing, managing, leading, and evaluating recreation programs.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented and recreation program planning knowledge, and experience.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with staff, customers, and community organizations.
  • Proven leadership abilities and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to teamwork, partnership, and positive relationship building.
  • Experience working with individuals and families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in positive youth development - preferably with middle school students.
  • Proficiency with Google workspace, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • First Aid and/or CPR certification.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and supervise MSCR afterschool care and enrichment programs.
  • Serve as on-site supervisor for school-year programs at home school.
  • Develop, promote, and coordinate childcare programs on non-school days.
  • Establish physically and emotionally safe program environments.
  • Ensure compliance with State and District quality standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between MSCR, school personnel, community members, parents and community agencies.
  • Interview, hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff and volunteers.
  • Develop work schedules for staff, submit and approve payroll.
  • Work with school principal, community members, families and participants to assess needs, resolve problems and concerns.
  • Order and distribute program supplies and equipment.
  • Manage program level budgets.
  • Ensure program success through compliance with Department of Children and Families regulations, MSCR/MMSD policies and grant requirements, as applicable.
  • Maintain records and data through required processes.
  • Work with community agencies in collaborative partnerships to maximize resources and bring community resources into programs.
  • Attend MSCR staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure that staff and participants follow MSCR and MMSD policies and procedures.
