About The Position

The Long Term Substitute Teacher for Special Education Pre-K AIM at Somerville Public Schools is responsible for maintaining the safety, care, and wellbeing of students while providing opportunities for learning and social-emotional development. This role requires a strong understanding of child and youth development, differentiated instruction, and collaboration with other educators and families to support each student's unique learning needs.

Requirements

• Appropriate Department of Elementary and Secondary Educator's license in the field or subject for this position.
• DESE SEI endorsement required.
• Bilingual Educator preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the safety, care, and wellbeing of students.
• Plan, prepare, and organize materials for curriculum delivery.
• Collaborate with other educators and communicate with adults responsible for students' learning.
• Establish relationships with parents and caregivers, maintaining two-way communication about student progress.
• Plan units and lessons aligned to State standards and district curriculum.
• Provide ongoing formative and summative assessments and analyze assessment data to determine learning needs.
• Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet varied learning strengths and needs of students.
• Establish and maintain culturally responsive communication with parents and caregivers.
• Collaborate with other educators for specialized instruction and social-emotional support.
• Follow guidance from the School Principal and other administrators to maintain a safe and equitable learning environment.
• Participate in professional growth opportunities and reflect on current practices.
