About The Position

The Custodian II - Head Custodian position is responsible for overseeing custodial staff and ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of school facilities. This role involves performing supervisory duties, conducting training for custodial staff, and managing the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems within the school. The head custodian plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and sanitary environment for students and staff.

Requirements

• One year of experience in housekeeping work.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to supervise and work effectively with others.
• General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• General knowledge of school heating system operation and maintenance.
• Physical strength sufficient to perform heavy manual tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform supervisory and heavy manual work in the minor repair of school buildings and the maintenance of school HVAC systems.
• Serve as lead worker over a group of employees engaged in the cleaning of school buildings and facilities.
• Responsible for firing, cleaning, and care of the HVAC system.
• Conduct on-the-job in-service training for custodial staff.
• Perform stripping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, and spray buffing of floors in school buildings.
• Arrange and move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
• Wash windows, woodwork, walls, and ceilings.
• Clean restrooms and replenish supplies such as tissue and soap.
• Replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes; empty waste receptacles.
• Perform minor repairs such as replacing damaged switch plates and faucet washers.
• Maintain cleanliness of the building by removing litter and debris.
• Perform grass cutting and care for shrubbery on the school campus.
• Attend seminars and workshops to improve job efficiency and skills.
