22152: Summer School APEX Science Teacher

About the position

The Summer School APEX Science Teacher position at Southridge High School is a temporary role for the summer session running from June 23rd to July 16th, with working hours from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The teacher will be responsible for instructing students in a computer-based APEX class system, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and ensuring student progress. The role requires a valid Washington State teacher's certificate with a science endorsement and satisfactory evaluations. The position offers a salary of $59.45 per hour for a total of 104 hours, which includes instructional time, preparation, and setup/cleanup.

Responsibilities

• Experience with APEX computer based class system and able to assist students as needed.
• Maintain good attendance and arrive prior to students to open lab.
• Supervise and maintain computer lab classroom and assist student progress.
• Maintain necessary records such as daily lesson plans, attendance, assessments, and requested reports as necessary for efficient procedures and evaluation.
• Attend and participate in program and staff meetings designed to assist in conducting a strong summer school program.
• Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
• Establish and maintain cooperative and positive professional relationships with other staff members.
• Prepare for and participate in parent involvement activities.
• Plan for and supervise paraeducators.
• Maintain an orderly, positive classroom atmosphere.
• Be discreet and confidential with all school related information.
• Complete Time and Effort sheets, as well as time verification forms, when needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the Summer School Administrator.

Requirements

• Valid Washington State teacher's certificate with endorsement in Science.
• Satisfactory evaluations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with APEX classes.
• Experience teaching Summer School Credit Retrieval Program.
