About The Position

Professional role models wanted! Be a part of #SuperSummer team this summer season. You will be tasked with helping kids have the best summer of their lives in a safe environment. In the process, you'll gain job skills, a fun work environment, and the personal satisfaction of knowing you are shaping the future. As a Teacher Assistant in our Summer Day Camp for grades K-8, you will help campers make new friends; keep them safe both physically and mentally; build positive relationships with their families; lead large and small group games; teach reading lessons, STEM, and character development; sing songs; swim; encourage personal fitness, and lead devotions. Occasional extended and/or non-traditional hours and/or other duties may be required.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age
  • Ability to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, patience and understanding, good decision making, and receive and follow instructions
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to sit, stand, or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time (including outside and in the pool)
  • Appreciate diversity and practice inclusion
  • Ability to attend required training and be available for a variable schedule, usually between 6:45 am and 6:00 pm, as well as event coverage on select nights and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the site in accordance with YMCA guidelines, ensuring all program curriculum and materials are prepared accordingly and accessible.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with staff, students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
  • Maintains records as required (i.e. site checklist, attendance, food service, staff & student forms, etc.).
  • Attends staff meetings and training as scheduled.
  • Selected candidates must be able to attend the Association Camp Training on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
  • Completes discipline, incident, and accident reports as necessary.
  • Ensures that the site is kept organized and all supplies are put away daily.
  • Reports damaged equipment.
  • Required to Participate in Aquatics Activities (Including Swimming, or Deck Supervision).
