Requirements

  • Desire to work in a team environment, often under competing deadlines.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, with past experience modeling and evaluating transactions.
  • Excellent technical proficiency in Excel/VBA.
  • Prior experience preparing presentation materials using PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience at an investment bank (M&A, Leveraged Finance, or other coverage groups), consulting firm, a sell-side structuring or trading desk, or a hedge fund.
  • Past Structured Credit experience is helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform due diligence on prospective investments within the credit space, with a focus on Structured Credit, including meeting with potential borrowers, doing deep dives on the business, industry/strategy research, financial modeling, and putting together investment materials.
  • Working with other members of the Investment Team to diligence and underwrite investment opportunities, leveraging Blackstone’s various groups where appropriate.
  • Building comprehensive financial models and evaluating various cases and types of deal structures.
  • Drafting and presenting memorandums for Investment Committees.
  • Monitoring existing investments including tracking KPIs and continuously challenging the validity of the investment thesis.
  • Thinking creatively about ways to improve the team’s existing processes.
