Your Impact We are developing next-generation devices, including robotics platforms, with an aggressive schedule for development and release. The NPI group ensures that new products can be built at scale with high yield and low cost. As a DFx Intern, you will support engineering teams with hands-on projects, data analysis, and documentation to help prepare products for scalable manufacturing. You’ll gain exposure to real-world product development, cross-functional teamwork, and factory readiness activities.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Exposure to CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent).
  • Basic understanding of DFM/DFA principles from coursework or projects.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (Excel, JMP, Python, or similar).
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Interest in manufacturing, robotics, or product design.

Responsibilities

  • Support DFx reviews with design and mechanical engineering teams.
  • Assist in the design and documentation of fixtures, layouts, and processes.
  • Help plan and track development build activities.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data from builds and test results.
  • Support preparation of PFMEAs, flow diagrams, and hazard analyses.
  • Document findings and present progress to engineering teams.
  • Provide hands-on support for simple fixture or tooling design using CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
  • Learn and assist in basic process development tasks such as adhesive dispensing, fastening, and laser processes under supervision.
  • Contribute to risk assessment and problem-solving discussions with the NPI team.
