2026 Tax Sophomore Summer Internship
About The Position
We are excited to offer an opportunity for talented students to join the internship program at Schonfeld. You’ll spend ten weeks within the Tax team where you will be immersed in the culture and atmosphere of Schonfeld, working alongside talented professionals on high profile projects. This team falls under our Accounting department and collaborates closely with groups across the firm including Business Analytics, Fund Accounting, and Operations. The Tax team is responsible for tax planning and reporting as it relates to the funds, the management companies, and the family office. The tax team interacts with various groups within the firm on a regular basis as well as with external parties such as investors, managers, fund administrator, and other service providers. The Schonfeld internship provides students with a unique opportunity to experience Schonfeld, our work, our people, and our culture. Interns will join a small team and will spend 10 weeks at Schonfeld from June - August. Each intern will work on a tailored project that will provide them with real world experience. We provide all interns with a dedicated mentor and manager to help them navigate the internship successfully. Interns will also participate in our learning and development program, which aims to provide tangible skills training and education on various functions across the firm and in the workplace. Along with the hands-on guidance and support from managers and mentors, interns will participate in networking events, engage with our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Alliance, attend panel discussions, and have many opportunities to get to know Schonfeld’s core values in practice.
Requirements
- 2nd year student in an undergraduate university pursuing a degree Accounting/Finance/Business Program or technical degree such as computer science with an interest in tax or accounting
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, sumifs, index match, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large sets of data
- Excellent communication skills; ability to articulate issues and solutions to different audiences
- Demonstrate sensitivity and judgement in handing confidential information
- Process and detail oriented with a strong work ethic and team focused attitude
- Able to adapt to frequent changes in the business operating environment
- Attention to detail with a strong work ethic and team-focused attitude
- Highly organized and self-motivated
- An analytical mindset and an ability to come up with solutions to problems you encounter
Nice To Haves
- VBA, SQL and/or Python knowledge is preferred
