Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. The RMD team is looking for a Systems Engineer Intern to support the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) department. The MDS department provides subject matter expertise for concept development, architectural design, requirements generation & flow-down, modeling and simulation, systems analysis, integration, test and evaluation of world-class Missile Defense & Sensor Systems to be achieved through our people, processes, technology and performance. This position is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher) Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree program.
  • Entering their Sophomore year by the start of summer 2026.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Battle Management command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (BMC4I) systems.
  • Experience with Radar Systems or signal processing techniques.
  • Experience with developing, documenting and maintaining processes, methods and tools.
  • Proven ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues.
  • Experience working with Matlab, C/C++, Java or DOORS.
  • Strong analytic, technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with system level requirements development, documentation and maintenance.
  • Experience with radar system concepts; detection, discrimination, track and signal processing algorithms.
  • Experience with the development and coding of system models, algorithms, test vectors and analysis tools.
  • Experience and interest in Information Assurance/Cyber Engineering requirements.
  • Experience in using AI/ML and signal processing in database and algorithm design and enhancement.
  • Previous military service.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to interface with customers and lead technical solutions to complex user needs.

Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a team to define radar system requirements.
  • Designing architectures and algorithms in support of those requirements.
  • Collaborating with software development teams to ensure effective implementation.
  • Analyzing radar system performance data with respect to requirements.
  • Identifying performance deficiencies and proposing solutions.
  • Defining and prototyping new algorithms to enhance system performance.
  • Presenting plans, designs and system performance to peers, internal leadership and external customers.
  • Providing subject matter expertise to agile software development teams to ensure proper implementation of requirements.
