We are seeking a highly motivated and analytically driven Device Portfolio Intern to join T-Mobile’s portfolio sourcing and partnerships team. This intern will support the evaluation of new device, technology, and partnership opportunities by developing business cases, financial models enhanced with Artificial Intelligence (AI), and contributing to deal negotiation strategy. This role is ideal for candidates interested in the intersection of Product Management, Marketing, AI, and Strategic Sourcing, and who want hands-on experience working with cross-functional teams on high-impact initiatives. You will leverage AI tools and analytical methods to support smarter, faster decision-making across the device portfolio.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Business (with an emphasis in Finance, Marketing or Analytics) Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in financial analysis, AI applications, and strategic sourcing.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools such as Excel, Tableau, Python, or AI modeling platforms; familiarity with machine learning concepts preferred.
  • Excellent communication, structured thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into clear recommendations.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a degree program and have at least one semester remaining following the internship
  • Employees of T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile are ineligible for internships.
  • Employer does not sponsor work visas for this position.
  • Note that this also applies to individuals who are students in F-1 status who desire sponsorship after they complete their education.

Responsibilities

  • Business Case Development Support the evaluation of new product, technology, and partnership opportunities by developing clear, data-driven business cases.
  • Conduct research on market trends, competitive dynamics, and cost structures to inform financial and strategic recommendations.
  • Summarize findings and present recommendations to sourcing and leadership teams.
  • Financial Modeling Using AI Build financial models incorporating AI-driven forecasting, scenario planning, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Use AI tools to automate and streamline large dataset analysis, improving the accuracy and efficiency of financial projections.
  • Generate insights related to device economics, ROI, cost optimization, and total value assessments.
  • Deal Negotiation Strategy Assist in preparing negotiation materials, including financial justification, partner evaluations, and comparative deal structures.
  • Analyze historical deal performance and competitor benchmarking to support negotiation strategies.
  • Use AI-assisted tools to simulate negotiation scenarios and identify value levers.
  • AI Proficiency Develop and refine internal AI-powered tools that support sourcing, financial modeling, and decision-making workflows.
  • Explore emerging AI applications relevant to sourcing, cost modeling, forecasting, and competitive analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal AI teams to integrate new capabilities into sourcing processes and dashboards.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration Partner with finance, supply chain, strategy, engineering, and product teams to validate assumptions and collect necessary inputs.
  • Support documentation, meeting coordination, and reporting across sourcing workstreams.
  • Communicate insights clearly through written summaries, presentations, and dashboards.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting Analyze device performance, pricing trends, partner metrics, and cost drivers using both traditional and AI-accelerated methods.
  • Prepare reports and executive summaries to inform sourcing decisions and track portfolio performance.

Benefits

  • Relocation may be provided to program participants who reside more than 50 miles from the internship location.
  • Intern wages range from $20/hour to $40/hour.
  • The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on experience/location.
