About The Position

The Facilities and Engineering Department at Hillsboro Innovative Therapies provides comprehensive engineering leadership for the site’s GMP infrastructure, including HVAC, Building Automation (BAS/ECMS), and manufacturing support systems. Our scope encompasses Capital Project Delivery, Reliability Engineering, Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) support, and Energy Sustainability. We serve as the primary technical interface between Manufacturing, Quality, and Global Engineering, ensuring that our facilities are not only compliant and audit-ready but also optimized for operational efficiency and system robustness. This internship position is located in Hillsboro, Oregon , on-site. Manage the asset lifecycle for all plant equipment, building systems, process equipment, and utilities. Determine and implement Asset Criticality procedures, including impact assessments, SOPs, and maintenance strategies. Support or lead startup and qualification activities for systems and equipment. Eliminate problems by acting as an RCA Champion and leading continuous improvement initiatives at the site. Create, review, and approve project documents, business process documents, schedules, reports, and work instructions. Manage relationships with site Maintenance, Engineering, Technology, Manufacturing, and Quality functions. Complete technical assessments, investigations, and data analysis. Regularly apply theories and principles from Reliability, Project Management, and Six Sigma to independently address problems. Implement predictive maintenance strategies such as tribology, thermography, vibration, and ultrasound. Ensure the integration of environment, health, safety, and security into business processes, systems, and programs. Conduct risk assessments on production and utility equipment utilizing FMEA and other techniques. Create and manage master data for equipment. Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Program start dates are in May/June (Summer) A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects. Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Requirements

  • Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria: Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student). Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (recent graduates not currently enrolled in a graduate program). Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).
  • Required Majors: Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, or other Engineering.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated ability to apply experience and hands-on mechanical skills to investigate system deficiencies.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to utilize a wide variety of technical skills to solve complex, multidisciplinary engineering challenges.
