Our internship program is designed for full-time students currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university and recent graduates in North America. These are temporary full-time paid positions that usually run from May through August. This position may be eligible for Freeport-McMoRan immigration work visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year university pursuing a degree, bachelor’s or higher, in Civil Engineering or closely related Engineering field.
  • Recent graduate (within 12 months prior to internship start date) with a degree, bachelor’s or higher, in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly accurate and detail oriented.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Under close supervision, works closely with engineering employees to carry out an array of assigned tasks.
  • Tasks may range from data entry, making changes to existing engineering drawings to design of small engineering projects.
  • Assembles data and assists with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals.
  • Utilizes computer programs to solve engineering problems.
  • Assists in the review, investigation and development of appropriate recommendations for small and medium-sized engineering projects.
  • Assists with specification development or preparation, technical evaluation of equipment and material, and maintaining accurate and current project documentation.
  • May perform as a member of a survey or GPS mapping crew.
  • Perform other duties as required.
