2026 Summer Intern - Translational Medicine
About The Position
Translational Medicine in Genentech has a vision to transform patient care through borderless, innovative, and rigorous translational science that will catalyze the development of new medicines, accelerate drug development timelines, and discover new therapeutic strategies. To fulfill our vision, we recruit talented and highly motivated scientists to develop and execute innovative biomarker and diagnostic strategies to drive clinical development through all phases of the portfolio, and conduct foundational disease-oriented translational research to maximize our scientific and clinical impact. We are seeking a motivated and passionate intern to contribute to our translational research. This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.
Requirements
- Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student)
- Required majors: Cancer biology, Molecular biology, Immunology or related disciplines

Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and murine organoid culture systems is a plus
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Generate genetically defined murine lung cancer organoid models using CRISPR-based genome editing
- Culture and maintain mouse tracheal epithelial organoids for cancer modeling
- Engineer and validate key cancer-associated genetic alterations relevant to lung squamous cell carcinoma
- Use human cancer genomics insights to guide model design and hypothesis generation
- Perform molecular and phenotypic characterization of engineered organoids
- Analyze data and communicate results to support translational oncology research
