The Position 2026 Summer Intern – Sustainment Engineering We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love. Department Summary The Department of Sustainment Engineering is responsible for driving toward exceptional equipment performance to support a 24-hour Operation at GenMark Diagnostics for the ePlex system to improve patient care with multiplex molecular diagnostics. Our growing infectious disease menu includes respiratory pathogen and blood culture panels that provide early identification to help improve patient outcomes. This internship position is located in Carlsbad, CA, on site The Opportunity Ownership of an impactful project that improves performance using principles of Lean Six Sigma to reduce process variation and driving work standardization and flow. Final presentation near the conclusion of internship to senior leaders. Program Highlights Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship Program start dates are in May/June (Summer) A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects. Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry. Who You Are (Required) Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria: Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree. Must have attained a Bachelor's degree (recent graduates not currently enrolled in a grad program). Must be pursuing a Master's degree. Must have attained a Master's degree.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of systematic troubleshooting principles.
  • Must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Must be able to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner.
  • Must be efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and ask questions.
  • Ability to work methodically, document findings, and follow regulated processes.
  • Foundational understanding of electronics, mechanical systems, or mechatronics.
  • Ability to approach problems analytically and interpret data.
  • Interest in equipment troubleshooting and hands-on technical work.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree.
  • Must have attained a Bachelor's degree (recent graduates not currently enrolled in a grad program).
  • Must be pursuing a Master's degree.
  • Must have attained a Master's degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the application of basic engineering and/or scientific theories, principles and techniques.
  • Possess strong analytical skills plus technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite.
