Join us in shaping the future of architecture and design in the Southeast! We are currently seeking an ambitious Research & Innovation Intern to join our Raleigh office. A Day in the Life: Architectural research is about “problem seeking” as well as “problem solving.” LS3P’s summer Research & Innovation Internship is designed for curiosity and exploration. Ideal candidates will be graduate-level students with a desire to immerse themselves in a topic related to architecture that enriches communities in the Southeast. The Research & Innovation Intern will report to LS3P’s Practice Research Strategist, Innovation Leader, and other relevant specialists to complete a summer research & innovation project. Over the course of 10 weeks , this individual will develop a question, review existing literature and precedents, conduct an investigation or propose a design solution, and present findings. Research topics that touch on elementary education, healthcare, mixed use development, and public transit facilities may have immediate project impacts, though other topics at the intersection of the human experience and the built environment will be considered. Possible sources for inspiration include the AIA’s Framework for Design Excellence, the AIA’s Research Agenda, and LS3P’s vision statement. Your Strengths As An Intern: Curiosity Flexibility Research skills and experience Strong organization and time management skills Excellent written and graphic communication skills. The topic and scope of work will be tailored to the applicant, so appropriate skills for the proposed project will be . What You Bring To The Table: Graduate-level candidates in architecture, interiors, and planning will be given priority, but undergraduate candidates with research experience will also be considered. Graphic design skills are helpful but not Candidates should approach the process with research ideas in mind. Location: Raleigh, NC. Other locations will be considered.
