The 2026 Summer Intern - Research Group - Sophomore position at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York offers undergraduate sophomores the opportunity to gain valuable work experience through dynamic, project-based work assignments and professional development activities. Interns will work full-time onsite for ten weeks, contributing to meaningful work that impacts the lives of all Americans. They will have access to a cohort-based learning model, professional mentorship, and opportunities to network with experienced colleagues. The Research & Statistics Group conducts policy-oriented academic research and provides analytic support for the Bank's responsibilities relating to monetary policy and other economic issues.

  • Assist economists and research associates in the analysis of current public policy issues and events.
  • Assist in long-term, academically oriented research projects.
  • Conduct econometric analyses intended for Bank publications and academic journals.
  • Program in statistical packages such as SAS, STATA, and MATLAB.
  • Demonstrated interest in economics, public policy, mathematics, or statistics.
  • Strong academic record with an expected graduation date of Winter 2026 or Spring 2027.
  • Experience using large databases and statistical packages like SAS, Stata, MATLAB, and Python.
  • Ability to provide concise, articulate, and insightful economic analysis in written and verbal form.
  • Good leadership skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Interpersonal and collaboration skills to foster working relationships.
  • Organized and resourceful, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Interest in banking, finance, business, economics, or public policy.
  • Experience in data analysis and using statistical packages (e.g., R, Julia, Gauss, TSP, RATS, EViews).
  • Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Paid internship with a salary based on an annual salary of $65,600 for 10 weeks.
