About The Position

Interested in pursuing a career in the rapidly evolving global energy market—one where you’ll work directly with the energy companies, utilities and government agencies charged with creating viable solutions to today’s most pressing energy challenges? Then consider ICF! We’re looking for Interns to join our dynamic energy advisory team and help us lead the charge. ICF is hiring 2026 Summer Interns to help grow our North American and global energy consulting business. Interns contribute to the development of innovative, analytical, high quality and commercially relevant products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff. Our Interns are given opportunities to work on assignments that foster growth and allow them to develop solutions within the renewable energy sector. Through client engagements, colleague and peer interactions, and specialized training, ICF Interns develop subject matter expertise and project management skills. This is a full-time, 10-week internship that will begin in early June 2026. This is a fully remote internship from any U.S. location. At this time, relocation assistance is not available. Pay is expected to be $23/hour for undergraduate interns and $28/hour for graduate interns.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 30 completed college level credit hours in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy engineering), Computer Sciences or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • A completed bachelor’s degree plus enrollment verification in a Master’s degree program in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy engineering), Computer Sciences or related field.
  • Strong interest in the renewable energy industry.
  • Knowledge of PVsyst for candidates interested in solar engineering.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, VBA, Python and/or project management related tools
  • Experience in developing and managing documentation and data analysis.
  • Ability to read and comprehend project engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, ability to solve complex problems, and enthusiasm to learn beyond what is required for daily tasks; a willingness to dive into new topics
  • Capability to extract tends, extrapolate, and understand information from a set of data.
  • Technical research skills and ability to work with and understand technical concepts, while also being able to communicate them to varied audiences.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment and a capability to prioritize tasks; strong time management, analytical, and inter-personal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review project documentation.
  • Perform energy modeling and/or technical reviews for solar, wind, renewable fuels, and/or battery energy storage systems projects.
  • Research technology development, and manufacturing trends.
  • Work with the carbon intensity team and help develop training tools.
  • Read, interpret, and critique project/system design drawings.
  • Apply technical background to evaluate new technologies.
  • Document reviews and analyses with sufficient technical depth but still accessible to non-technical clients.
