About The Position

The 2026 Summer Intern - Markets Group - Junior position at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York offers undergraduate juniors the opportunity to gain valuable work experience through dynamic, project-based work assignments and professional development activities. Interns will work full-time onsite for ten weeks, contributing to meaningful work that impacts the lives of all Americans. The program includes a cohort-based learning model, access to experienced professional mentors, and opportunities to network with senior leaders. Interns will be involved in various teams within the Markets Group, which manages the Federal Reserve System's balance sheet, monitors financial market developments, and provides services to the U.S. Treasury and foreign central banks.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets, economics, public policy or finance.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Quantitative analysis skills and familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, and analytical tools (e.g., Excel, SQL).
  • Academic exposure and/or experience in international and domestic capital markets and instruments, and US monetary policy and economics.
  • Ability to source, prepare, and visually represent data for written reports using common tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau).
  • Ability to perform preliminary research and help prepare data regarding foreign and domestic markets issues.
  • Programming experience (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare charts, tables, graphs and other supporting documentation for research and market analysis.
  • Support senior staff with economic and financial data analysis.
  • Help execute the Group's funds, securities, trading and settlement activities.
  • Prepare and maintain preliminary internal reports, data entry of operations results, and follow-up on discrepancies.
  • Test the implementation of new products.
