Work Arrangement: Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to a GM or supplier facility, as designated by the business, on a full-time basis. Each successful candidate will be offered an onsite role at a specific location, which may be at various locations throughout the United States depending on business needs. Candidate location preferences are considered but cannot be guaranteed. Selected candidates will be notified of their assigned location approximately 90 days prior to start date. The Manufacturing Engineering team at General Motors is seeking curious, driven students to contribute to meaningful work that shapes the future of the automotive industry within our General Assembly and Global Propulsion System teams. We design, build, and install the tools and equipment for vehicles at our global manufacturing facilities.

Requirements

  • Pursuit of a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or technology in one of the following areas: Automation, Automotive, Computer/Computer Science/Computer Animation, Construction Management, electrical, Industrial, Information Technology, Kinesiology, Machine Learning, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, Software, or equivalent
  • Must be graduating between December 2026 and June 2028
  • Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week during the summer months
  • Must be willing to work in a plant environment

Responsibilities

  • Analyze product, process, and technology to craft best methods to assemble vehicles, and protect the manufacturing process
  • Recommend and validate improvement for existing processes
  • Support evaluation of innovative technologies to address current manufacturing challenges
  • Develop tools to improve program/project management
  • Assist in the design, build, and validation of tools and equipment
  • Programming of manufacturing technology
  • Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment
  • Troubleshoots special maintenance and equipment problems
  • Coordinate machinery and equipment upgrade projects
