This position is embedded within the Pathology Core labs of the Genentech Research Pathology Department and is focused on development and application of tissue based procedures and imaging protocols. The successful candidate will provide scientific and technical expertise for tissue-based histopathology assays and analysis to support research scientists and pathologists who discover and develop drugs for the treatment of cancer, autoimmune diseases, metabolic diseases, ocular and neurological diseases. The Core labs at Genentech are state-of-the art labs equipped with novel technologies and automated platforms, and develops techniques primarily for discovery research using both standard and internally developed methodologies. This internship position is located in South San Francisco, CA, onsite. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our team as a summer intern, focusing on improving tissue based methodologies for immunofluorescent imaging and analysis. This position will involve optimizing processes for immunofluorescent staining, scanning slides, interpretation of signal to noise, and data analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with scientists in the Digital Pathology and Histopathology sections of the Pathology department to contribute to cutting-edge projects that have the potential to significantly impact the field of biomedical research.
