2026 Summer Intern - Civil Engineering, Roadway & Utilities
About The Position
Due to the nature of projected responsibilities associated with this opportunity, which may require the operation of a motorized vehicle to conduct business on behalf of TKDA, candidates must be at least 21 years of age as of May 30, 2026 to be selected for further consideration. If you are an undergraduate pursuing a bachelorâs degree in civil engineering with an interest in municipal infrastructure design, then consider joining our team this upcoming summer in Bloomington, Minnesota! As a member of our team, you will work alongside other Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural professionals. Our team supports a variety of civil design on multi-discipline public and private projects, including roadway, utility infrastructure and stormwater management systems and other impactful projects that enhance community connectivity and safety. The ideal candidate would be available to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime throughout the summer of 2026 from mid-May through mid-August. This position would primarily work from our office or an assigned project site; however, there may be instances in which this position would be provided with flexible / hybrid work arrangements.
Requirements
- Undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering with interest in transportation.
- Previous experience or formal training with AutoCad and/or Microstation.
- Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to work in a team environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be at least 21 years of age by May 2026.
- Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
Nice To Haves
- Previous coursework or project assignments related to transportation, municipal or highway design.
- Thorough understanding of drafting techniques, plan development, and related engineering practices.
- Previous experience developing construction plans and specifications.
- Experience working directly with people (customer service, sports reffing, volunteering / community engagement)
