About The Position

The Antibody Engineering Department’s mission is to discover therapeutic antibodies and engineer next-generation biotherapeutic formats to address unmet medical needs. We have an opportunity for a talented and highly motivated intern to join our efforts and creatively apply protein engineering and biochemistry principles to discover and engineer multispecific and complex antibody formats with novel functionalities. The internship will be located in South San Francisco and is an on-site laboratory research position. This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site. The Opportunity Apply structural-guided and protein engineering principles to design, clone, and characterize novel antibody formats. Characterize and test physiochemical and functional properties of molecules by in vitro binding, stability, and cell-based assays. Utilize in vitro antibody display platforms to identify new binders to targets of interest. Utilize mutagenesis and library approaches for antibody optimization. Program Highlights Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Program start dates are May/June 2026. A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of challenging and impactful research projects. Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry. Professional & personal development curriculum throughout the program, including networking opportunities, workshops, and panel discussions. Participate in volunteer projects, social events, and team-building activities.

Requirements

  • Must have attained a Bachelor's degree (recent graduates not currently enrolled in a grad program).
  • Must be pursuing a Master's degree.
  • Must have attained a Master's degree.
  • Must be pursuing a PhD.
  • Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field.
  • Basic hands-on wet lab experimental skills.
  • Experience with recombinant proteins and molecular biology are highly desirable.
  • Core competencies in protein biochemistry and engineering.
  • Molecular biology (PCR, cloning).
  • Biochemical and/or cell-based assays.
