About The Position

An internship with American Family Insurance is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10-to-14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching. Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam Group office. As a Farm Underwriting Intern, you will assist in establishing and maintaining strategies to meet organizational objectives. Under the direction of a senior level employee or manager you will work on projects that support the business area goals and results. You will report to a Production Underwriting Manager.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-focused solutions, support, or service.
  • Must be currently seeking a baccalaureate, masters, or doctoral degree and be enrolled in an accredited college or university on a full-time basis or as needed by the university's co-op program.
  • Must have achieved 24 semester hours of academic credit before beginning the first work term.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a degree in Insurance/Risk Management or Agriculture preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the organization's business environments, corporate culture and structure to support work initiatives.
  • Support new ideas, systems and procedures.
  • Produce creative ideas and actions in response to changing situations.
  • Support and plan work on small projects with direction from management.
  • May assume the duties normally performed in the department, alongside professionals who perform these roles.
  • Present project results to management and/or department personnel.
  • Perform analytical work within the assigned functional area.
  • Other duties as assigned.
