Display & Flexible Technologies (DFT) at Applied Materials develops and builds advanced large‑format semiconductor processing equipment used to produce virtually every display in the world. Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Cognitive Science, or a related field
  • Actual project work on AI, machine learning, or LLM concepts through coursework or internships
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data
  • Excellent communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Foundational understanding of coding concepts (e.g., Python, SQL, or similar languages)
  • Ability to read, understand, and modify code, even if not a primary software developer
  • Experience using AI‑assisted tools (e.g., coding copilots, large language models, data analysis notebooks) to accelerate productivity
  • Familiarity with data analysis, visualization, or dashboarding concepts
  • Curiosity about applying AI to improve real workflows and decision‑making
  • Comfort experimenting, iterating, and validating AI‑generated outputs
  • Awareness of responsible AI practices, including data quality, validation, and limitations
  • Coursework or experience related to: R&D Workflows, Manufacturing, supply chain, or product costing, Quality processes.
  • Process improvement, Lean, or operations analytics.
  • Ability to translate technical analysis into actionable business insights
