About The Position

The Software Engineering Intern will join the Technology team at GCM Grosvenor, a growing alternative investments firm where technology is central to enabling data-driven decision-making. Our engineers drive innovation by building and extending platforms that support investment decisions, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the employee experience. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers on product-oriented teams, contributing to the development of applications and solutions used across the firm. This role offers hands-on experience with modern engineering practices in a real-world environment. This 10-week summer internship is based in our Chicago office and follows a hybrid schedule, with in-office attendance required Tuesday through Thursday.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (grad date: Dec 2027 – Spring 2028)
  • Minimum GPA: 3.5
  • Comfortable with object-oriented programming (C#, Python, C++, or Java)
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Exposure to web development (HTML, JavaScript, APIs, etc.)
  • Familiar with Agile development, cloud technologies, and the software development lifecycle

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
  • Experience with modern frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.)
  • Familiarity with automated testing tools (JUnit, Selenium, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Join one of our product-oriented software engineering teams for the summer. You will work closely with team members and leaders on engineering projects.
  • Create an approach and then design and execute on project deliverables.
  • Participate in all team Agile ceremonies.
  • Leverage hands on experience with technology and learned practical approaches to solve real-world business problems.
  • Create solutions the team will use beyond the internship period.
  • The summer will culminate with an intern presentation showcasing what the intern created and learned throughout the internship program.
