Role Overview: New York Life Direct’s Business, Employee & Workplace (BEW) team plays a critical role in enabling an effective, engaging, and scalable employee experience that supports overall business performance. The team focuses on the people, processes, and workplace practices that allow employees to do their best work while driving operational efficiency in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Beginning in June and ending in August, this 10-week summer internship provides hands-on exposure and real-world experience supporting employee engagement, learning and development, workplace initiatives, and operational improvement efforts within NYL Direct. Interns will work closely with BEW team members and cross-functional partners to support programs and initiatives that directly impact employee experience and business outcomes. This hybrid role includes in-office collaboration and offers meaningful interaction with senior leaders, business partners, and fellow interns. What You’ll Do: As a Business, Employee & Workplace Intern, you will be fully integrated into the team’s day-to-day operations and contribute to initiatives that support employee experience, workforce effectiveness, and operational excellence. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain exposure to how a large organization supports its employees behind the scenes. During the summer, you will: Participate in team meetings and cross-functional discussions to gain exposure to business operations and employee-focused initiatives Assist in planning and executing a live employee development experience, including logistics, coordination, and communications Support the planning and execution of an employee recognition event tied to the annual internal fundraising campaign, including budget tracking and event communications Analyze data to support insights, reporting, and recommendations that inform decision-making Assist with ad hoc projects and requests as business needs arise Contribute to special projects and a final internship presentation Participate in professional development workshops, networking events, and fireside chats with senior leaders
