About The Position

Do you want to grow your capabilities in computer networking and apply your skills to become a network engineer? If you are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Science or related degree, and want to work on an enterprise class network, we'd love to have you join our team! We are seeking an intern to join our network operations teams to participate in network engineering projects and resolution efforts. You'll participate and learn how to support an enterprise class network with the latest technology.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Science or related degree.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Skilled and/or have knowledge in computer networking concepts.
• Strong desire to grow technically and become a member of the network operations team.
• US Citizenship or permanent resident status is required to access APL's facilities and networks.

Nice To Haves

• Basic knowledge of network operating systems, e.g. EOS, IOS, PanOS.
• Familiarity with IP subnetting, the OSI Model, and fundamental networking concepts.
• Familiarity with VoIP and collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to the operational support and implementation of new network technologies.
• Participating in solving network issues and learning to respond with appropriate actions.
• Contributing to network engineering huddles, technical meetings, and resolution efforts.
• Identifying, researching, and raising network degradation situations requiring attention.
