The Engineering department in Indianapolis is looking for interns to support software development, system design, test, verification and other engineering-related tasks throughout the life cycle of product development for various projects. These could include software applications for mobile, Windows, Linux, and even proprietary or real-time embedded operating environments. Tasks could also include systems design, test, and verification. The work associated with our Indianapolis group is most often focused on products associated with the exciting world surrounding military aircraft systems but can also include projects for other customers, both internal and external. The engineering intern works within a collaborative team of engineers to help provide creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems. The successful intern will work closely with other Systems Engineers, Software Engineers and stakeholders on tasking for solutions with the end user and operational needs in mind. Interns may need to move between projects and processes, so adaptability and an eye toward learning are keys to success. As one example, an intern may be assigned primarily and in ongoing fashion to an integrated and cross-functional team using Agile Scrum to update a cockpit display system. That same intern may additionally be assigned an organizational research assignment to work on throughout the internship. Multiple positions and projects exist.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s (or higher) degree program in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and will be at minimum Junior, Senior or Post Grad year by summer 2026.
  • Classroom or other experience with software life-cycle stages such as requirements, design, development, integration, and test
  • Knowledge in Android, Windows, and/or Linux operating system concepts
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security interim clearance prior to the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated programming experience with one or more languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python
  • Interest in aircraft/aviation related programs
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with requirements and use case analysis such as UML
  • Experience with scripting (Ruby, Perl, Python, PHP, etc.)
  • Experience with agile (Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban, SAFe, eXtreme Programming, etc.)
  • Experience and/or knowledge with DevOps and Continuous Integration/Delivery
  • Experience and/or knowledge with an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) like Android Studio, Eclipse, MS Visual Studio, and Azure DevOpsExperience with technologies such as .NET, XML, WPF, GL Studio, Linux, VxWorks, AWS, Unreal Engine
  • Experience with Real-time Operating Systems
