The Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. From preliminary concepts to fielded weapon system support, MA&T delivers innovative structural and thermal engineering solutions utilizing methods ranging from classical fundamental & empirically based techniques to state-of-the-art finite element methods leveraging industry leading commercial tools; all complimented and validated by tests executed in a manner to ensure cost effective yet technically balanced solutions. As an intern in the Analysis and Test Department, you will be working one on one with a senior engineer, tackling structural analysis tasks that will give you a great hands-on learning experience. You will be responsible for performing the analyses/tests, getting the results peer-reviewed, and documenting the results in a report. You will finish your internship with the satisfaction of knowing you contributed to the success of the Analysis and Test Department, as well as Raytheon in general!

Requirements

  • Must be a rising junior by the start of summer 2026 in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or be pursuing a Master’s degree
  • Experience with engineering Finite Element Analysis tools and software such as ANSYS Workbench, or Patran/Nastran
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA desired
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with coworkers from various communities, cultures, work experience and conflict resolution styles
  • Experience utilizing CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools such as CREO
  • Experience with problem solving using data-driven approaches
  • Hands on experience through academic or industry exposure

Responsibilities

  • Perform hand calculations and determine requirements for higher order detailed analysis
  • Perform detailed structural/thermal analyses to solve challenging problems
  • Perform peer reviews of all analysis to validate process and results
  • Deliver results to customers
  • Generate detailed, archival technical reports
