Discover opportunities to make a difference at RTX. Manufacturing Engineer Interns can expect to learn production operations and the manufacturing discipline in a controlled environment. They develop manufacturing engineering skills, an understanding of manufacturing (cost, quality, safety and schedule), and Raytheon systems and tools. MEs build technical depth in manufacturing processes and are accountable for improvement and optimization.

Requirements

  • Must be at least a sophomore by the start of summer 2026 pursuing a degree in Manufacturing, or Mechanical engineering
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the financial management system due to government contractual requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA desired
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PPT, Project, Word)
  • Basic programming skills in languages such as Python or MATLAB
  • 3D Modeling experience with Creo
  • Manufacturing Experience using lathes and mills
  • CNC programming experience
  • Optics or Optical Manufacturing experience such as Grinding and polishing Diamond Point Turning (DPT) Interferometry Spectrophotometry

Responsibilities

  • Design, control, and improve the manufacturing process through collaboration with a multi-disciplined team within the Optical Manufacturing sector
  • Implement manufacturing process control and performance monitoring
  • Create and oversee improvement projects
  • Translate engineering design requirements into specialized manufacturing processes
