The International Veterinary Health (IVH) team at our Company's Animal Health division works with governments and intergovernmental agencies throughout the world on the control of transboundary and emerging diseases with a One Health impact. Key diseases are rabies, Foot and Mouth Disease, Lumpy Skin Disease, Tuberculosis, and Avian Influenza. The team has a One Health One Welfare approach to their work. They work on innovative approaches to disease control, with the integration of technology to help disease surveillance and vaccination monitoring. They are responsible for the emergence website providing information on disease outbreaks, and the emergence podcast featuring experts in many disease areas. The successful applicant will be a member of the International Veterinary Health team during the period of the practicum and will be involved in team meetings and planning sessions. Working with the team, the candidate will gain a full understanding of the role of the pharmaceutical industry in improving both human and animal lives. The candidate will learn about public-private partnerships and see them in action, as well as gain insights into the political drivers and barriers to disease control. The candidate will be a part of meetings that discuss disease control and how to introduce true solutions to make national vaccination campaigns more effective. Specific projects may vary, dependent on the needs and priorities of the department at the time while taking into account specific interests of the applicant.
