About The Position

The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Global Support Functions Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals. We are the Data Science and Scientific Informatics (DSSI) team in our Company's Research Lab IT. We are seeking a motivated undergraduate student to join our team for a 12-week summer internship. This opportunity offers hands-on experience working at the intersection of data science, information technology, and pharmaceutical research. The intern will contribute to impactful projects advancing drug discovery and development by leveraging data analytics, machine learning, and innovative technologies.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Computational Biology, or a related field.
  • Completion of at least sophomore year by the internship start date.
  • Familiarity with Python (preferred), R, or similar programming languages commonly used for data analysis.
  • Basic understanding of statistics, data structures, and data manipulation techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills and a passion for solving scientific problems with data-driven approaches.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to machine learning concepts or coursework.
  • Interest in pharmaceutical research, biology, or healthcare applications.
  • Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection, cleaning, preprocessing, and analysis from diverse biomedical and research sources.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and validation of data models and analytics pipelines.
  • Work collaboratively with data scientists, IT specialists, and research staff to analyze experimental results and generate actionable insights.
  • Develop visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Document methods, code, and results following department and industry standards.
  • Participate in team meetings, present work progress, and contribute to brainstorming sessions.
