About The Position

2026 Fall Intern - Discovery Oncology, Genentech Research and Early Development Department Summary At Genentech, the Department of Discovery Oncology studies the complex mechanisms of communication that exist between immune and non-immune cells in tumors, with the goal of developing novel immunotherapies for cancer. We foster a rich and collaborative research environment that integrates diverse disciplines spanning molecular oncology, immunology, and computational biology to tackle health care’s biggest challenges. This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site. The Opportunity This internship will focus on delineating novel mechanisms of cytokine regulation in the tumor microenvironment. Core responsibilities will include cell culture, T cell assay development & design, data analysis by flow cytometry or RNA-seq, and presentation of data to the team. Program Highlights Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Program start dates are in September (Fall). A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects. Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry. Who You Are (Required) Required Education You meet one of the following criteria: Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student). Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program). Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student). Must have attained a Master's Degree. Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student). Required Majors: Relevant to the study of tumor immunology, including (but not limited to) Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology.

  • Cell culture.
  • Data management and record keeping.
