About The Position

The Role The Global Quality Strategic Operations team is seeking a high-performing Industrial Engineering or MBA candidate to contribute to enterprise-wide transformation initiatives across Moderna’s Global Quality organization. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Strategic Operations for Global Quality, this role operates at the intersection of strategy, operational excellence, and workforce planning. The co-op will support and potentially lead high-visibility initiatives within Global Quality’s Transformation Office, partnering across all CMC, R&D and global manufacturing sites. This role offers direct exposure to senior leadership, including interactions with the Head of Global Quality, and the opportunity to influence how Global Quality plans resources, drives performance, and builds its future operating model. This position will run from July 13th-December 11th, 2026.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an MBA, Industrial Engineering, or related quantitative/scientific degree program.
  • Strong interest in Operational Excellence, Business Transformation, or Strategic Operations.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau or similar).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
  • This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time.
  • This position is not eligible for remote work.
  • Candidates must already hold work authorization in US and be able to maintain that status without the need for future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher preferred).
  • Experience with workforce planning, capacity modeling, or resource optimization.
  • Proficiency in Python or automation tools.
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet, Miro, Lucid, or similar collaboration tools.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled analytics or digital workflow optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Transformation Portfolio & Governance Support governance, alignment, and performance reporting for Global Quality’s Transformation Office portfolio.
  • Develop executive-ready reporting materials that track initiative impact, risks, and progress.
  • Help ensure initiatives are aligned to strategic priorities and delivering measurable business value.
  • Capacity Modeling & Workforce Strategy Operationalize a workforce capacity system as a strategic management tool.
  • Partner with Quality leaders to embed the model into planning and decision-making processes.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and improvement levers through data-driven workforce analysis.
  • Develop dashboards and visual tools to support ongoing performance transparency.
  • Operational Excellence & Process Improvement Lead or support quality-owned process improvement initiatives across enterprise functions.
  • Conduct process mapping, root cause analyses, and performance diagnostics.
  • Apply Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to identify and implement sustainable improvements.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with Quality teams across the enterprise.
  • Prepare and present analyses and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Support cross-functional alignment across geographies and functions.
