Right now, we’re looking for a 6-month Process Engineering Co-op to join us to do career defining work. A career in Research and Development where none of us stand still. The Scale Up, Tech Transfer and Pilot Plant Team is a global platform team, responsible for scaling up processes, identifying and mitigating risks, and delivering innovation to consumers worldwide. We leverage the power of teamwork, curiosity, scientific excellence, and consumer obsession to deliver superior solutions to everyday problems. As a Process Engineering Associate- Coop Student with the Scale Up team, you will get the opportunity to work with one of the market leaders in respiratory health, pain relief, and/or nutraceuticals.

  • Education required: Pursuing a BS degree in Engineering (Chemical or Biomedical preferred), Chemistry, or other related fields
  • Other requirements: Ability to start in July 2026
  • Candidate must be eligible to work on a full-time basis (40 hours a week) during the co-op duration (6 months).
  • Candidate will need to coordinate their own relocation and commuting to the site
  • This role is onsite at our Richmond, VA location
  • Must be eligible to work in the US at the time of, and for the duration of employment. Employees will be required to furnish evidence of US work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong experience on statistical software (Statistica, or JMP software) would be preferred
  • Strong experience in data analysis and its interpretation
  • Preferred - Experience working with pilot scale Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) equipment such as tablet presses, blenders, coaters, etc…
  • Preferred – Experience from prior internship / co-op working in process engineering, scale up, or product design
  • Preferred – Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and / or Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) principles

Responsibilities

  • Work in a compliant manner to ensure the safety of yourself, others, and the protection of the environment
  • Perform hands-on manufacturing of lab and pilot scale solid, liquid or semisolid dosage product aligned to research and development needs
  • Develop technical equipment and process troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Organize trials of small- and large-scale studies including raw material confirmations, batch documentation, and analytical test coordination.
  • Assist in data collection, analysis and reporting
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams of quality, R&D, and commercial teams
  • Use strong technical writing skills to support or develop process capability study protocols, reports, and Quality by Design Technical Risk Assessments (QbD TRAs)
  • Under minimum supervision, perform tasks necessary to create a common repository of manufacturing processes and analysis on analytical data.
  • Under the supervision of a senior staff, apply standard data science methods to solve process questions, including collecting data, analyzing data, and apply quantitative data science methods to predict product performance
  • Use a Quality by Design (QbD) approach to substantiate trends and propose formulations for Voltaren, Panadol, Theraflu, and Otrivin line extension
