About The Position

The Role This is a summer internship opportunity in Norwood, MA from July 13th-December 11th, 2026. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the internship. The Norwood Drug Substance organization at Moderna is looking for top talent in science and engineering to deliver on its mission to deliver mRNA medicines for clinical studies and commercial markets in a GMP regulated environment. Summer Interns will have an opportunity to be part of high-performing project teams working onsite in Norwood on developing Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance the production of mRNA therapeutics and vaccines destined for clinical trials and commercial licensure. You are expected to be present onsite during normal business hours. Occasional off hour support (after hours and/or weekends) may be required to effectively deliver projects and initiatives in collaboration with our 24/7 shift teams. You will apply your educational background and learn new technical skills in the Manufacturing unit operations, project management, GMP change management, Digital enablement and/or material logistics processes. You will develop a deep understanding of control strategies to ensure manufacturing processes can consistently deliver mRNA medicines of the highest quality. Here's What You’ll Do Work with a team of highly skilled experts to come up to speed quickly on technology and techniques. Support and participate in cross-functional teams to drive general manufacturing operation changes and continuous improvements. Participate in planning, design, execution, analysis of formal risk assessments to maintain and enhance process control strategies. Work with process SMEs to develop batch records, electronic workflows, SOPs, project planning tools, productivity tools and/or training materials. Prepare technical reports and present finding in cross-functional meetings. Lead a specific initiative with tangible impact intended to improve the Operations unit’s ways of working. Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications) Current student enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomolecular Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related STEM field Strong fundamental scientific and engineering skills for the evaluation of data Organizational skills applicable to Lean Manufacturing and Change Management methodology. Prior experience in a structured work or team environment demonstrating reliability, punctuality, and accountability. Requirements

  • Current student enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomolecular Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related STEM field
  • Strong fundamental scientific and engineering skills for the evaluation of data
  • Organizational skills applicable to Lean Manufacturing and Change Management methodology.
  • Prior experience in a structured work or team environment demonstrating reliability, punctuality, and accountability.
