About The Position

Join Moderna’s Bioanalytical Sciences team as a co-op and gain hands-on experience in the development and qualification of ligand binding assays. You will work with MSD and ELISA-based platforms to support pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) assessments in preclinical studies. In this role, you will contribute to assay development, execution, and data analysis for the quantification of mRNA-encoded proteins. Your responsibilities will include laboratory experimentation, data interpretation, and thorough documentation, along with opportunities to collaborate cross-functionally with scientists across Non-Clinical Drug Development. This co-op experience provides a unique opportunity to build technical expertise in bioanalytical methods while contributing to Moderna’s mission to deliver transformative medicine This position will run from July 13th-December 11th, 2026. Candidates must be available for the full duration of the program.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Bioengineering, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Coursework and/or hands-on experience in a wet lab environment.
  • Familiarity with core laboratory techniques, including pipetting and ligand binding assays such as ELISA and MSD.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, thorough record-keeping.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Candidates must already hold work authorization in the U.S. and be able to maintain that status without future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with ELISA-based assays for protein quantification is required.
  • Working knowledge of immunogenicity assays is preferred.
  • Ability to clearly communicate scientific findings, including preparing data visualizations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in bioanalytical method development and a strong willingness to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, qualify, and execute ligand binding assays (e.g., ELISA, MSD) to quantify proteins and assess immunogenicity in support of PK and PD studies.
  • Author and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze and summarize experimental data; generate clear figures and tables; and present findings to cross-functional teams.
  • Follow established biosafety practices, maintain high-quality documentation, and adhere to data integrity and governance standards aligned with bioanalytical and clinical environments.
