This position will be located at our Space Systems Sector in Promontory, Magna, or Clearfield, Utah. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Propulsion Systems business group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree for Research Scientist 1.
  • Master’s Degree for Research Scientist 2.
  • Be completing or has completed their degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution.
  • Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
  • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Nice To Haves

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates the design, development, execution and implementation of technology research projects.
  • Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products.
  • Defines and executes research tasks, analyzes data, publishes findings in peer-reviewed journals, and presents research at scientific conferences.
  • Capable of defining research projects for their projects with assistance from management with a focus on answering fundamental questions in basic science.
  • Plans and executes applied research.
  • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
  • May participate in development of patent applications.
  • May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.
