The Associate Data Engineer will help support, operate, and maintain the company’s Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) and supporting data systems. As a member of the Grid Modernization team, you will help the company evolve the operation of its DERMS and support the company Electric Sector Grid Modernization Plan (ESMP). The Associate Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data pipelines and infrastructure that support the department’s data analytics and data science initiatives. The candidate should have a background in data engineering and should be comfortable working with large and complex datasets. You’ll be supporting groundbreaking efforts to improve grid reliability, resilience, and effectively integrate renewable energy resources into day-to-day power system operations. This role will help integrate DERMS and dispatching DERs based on real-time conditions into the day-to-day roles of utility operations. This role also involves obtaining, analyzing, and reporting on data required by and recorded in DERMS. This Associate Data Engineer will report to the Grid Modernization Technology department, which is responsible for overseeing several large-scale grid modernization projects central to Eversource’s ESMP. You will work closely with the Senior Data Engineer and Lead Engineer and the teams responsible for each of these projects by maintaining, supporting, and testing new features of the DERMS software as they are released, as well as possible other software to optimize the distribution system. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science or related quantitative field. The ideal candidate has a focus on data science and has familiarity with power systems analysis. This person thrives on complexity and problem solving. This person is detail oriented, embraces change, and helps inspire others to move utility work and team members into our future vision of a grid supported by renewable energy.
