About The Position

Diamondback is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas focused on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas. The role will include exposure to financial analysis, financial reporting (internal and external), and operational accounting processes.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline.
• Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
• Must be willing to work in Midland, TX for the duration of the internship.
• GPA of 3.20 or higher preferred.
• Extracurricular achievements or prior work experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Under the general supervision of the manager and mentor, the Summer Intern is responsible for the completion of project work supporting the work of the accounting department and the general operations of the company.
• Assist on projects directly impacting the results achieved in the department assigned.
• Work directly with other accounting and finance professionals as well as other disciplines to experience what working in an Exploration and Production company is like.
• Develop accounting and finance skills under the supervision and guidance of an assigned, experienced mentor.
• Assist with month-end financial reports.
• Post journal entries.
• Assist with auditors.
• Assist with various budget cycles.
• Assist with completion of various regulatory filings.
• Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Provide quality compliance and administrative support to the department.
• Complete a project supporting the Accounting business unit which will be presented in front of Diamondback upper management.
• Participate in Diamondback philanthropic endeavors that help the immediate community.
