About The Position

The ML Teacher will manage a caseload for students acquiring the English language and provide Direct Services to those students. The ML Teacher will provide critical guidance to Lead Teachers to ensure that all staff are complying with Individualized Learning Plans and meeting the needs of multilingual students. Responsibilities include providing a variety of Direct Services such as ELD Sheltered, Content Based Instruction, Structured English Instruction, and other TNDOE approved Service Models depending on school and student needs. The ML Teacher will meet with general education teachers to answer questions, provide strategies and supports, and track student progress towards student’s ILP goals. The role also involves curriculum development, instructional planning, and fostering a positive school culture.

Requirements

  • Valid Tennessee teaching license with English as a Second Language Pre-K-12 (490) endorsement OR proof of enrollment in a job-embedded Educator Preparation Program.
  • Conferred Bachelor’s degree.
  • Pass Criminal Background Check.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload for students acquiring the English language.
  • Provide Direct Services to multilingual students.
  • Guide Lead Teachers to comply with Individualized Learning Plans.
  • Provide ELD Sheltered, Content Based Instruction, and Structured English Instruction.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers on lesson plans and student progress.
  • Identify and screen qualifying multilingual students using the Universal WIDA Screener.
  • Create and monitor Individualized Learning Plans (ILP).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district ML regulations.
  • Administer accommodations for relevant assessments.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials.
  • Use progress-monitoring tools to analyze student results.
  • Provide daily feedback on student performance.
  • Work collaboratively with school teams.
  • Develop positive rapport with students and families.
