About The Position

The CCA Teacher ensures that students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their overall development as mature, able and responsible Christians.

Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Possess a Florida VPK Staff Credential or be willing to acquire a Florida VPK Staff Credential
  • Possess the 40 hours of Child Care training through DCF or be willing to acquire the 40 hours of Child Care training through DCF
  • Demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy, having a basic proficiency in doing word processing, emailing and accessing the Internet
  • Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background or experience as determined by the school administrator
  • Ability to set boundaries to limit non-work-related communication and stay within the parameters of the job description when on the clock
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must attend a Bible believing church with similar beliefs as Calvary Chapel Melbourne
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech and actions toward others
  • Demonstrate a personal relationship with Jesus through spiritual and moral integrity
  • Fruit of the Spirit is consistently displayed in your life (Gal 5:22-23)
  • Be a reflection of God’s love to colleagues and visitors (John 13:34- 35)
  • Mature and ongoing relationship with Christ
  • Actively participate in a local Bible-believing church
  • A dependable team player who understands unity and works well with people (Ephesians 4:3)
  • Maintain high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in all personal and professional matters (Hebrews 13:18)

  • Have a conviction that God has called him/her to Christian school ministry (Proverbs 3:5)

Responsibilities

  • Exemplify and teach God’s love every day (Romans 1:16)
  • Greet children and parents at the door every morning (1 Peter 5:14)
  • Supervision in the classroom, cafeteria, restroom, playground or on school-related field trips (Ephesians 4:3)
  • Maintain peaceful classroom environment while keeping it neat and orderly (I Corinthians 14:33)
  • Prepare and display an organized environment
  • Maintain godly character in all situations
  • Prepare daily lessons and activities in advance and have all material ready for each day
  • Plan and prepare the learning environment, setting up centers and preparing materials and supplies
  • Model proper letter formation and grammar when writing
  • Preparing for Parent Conferences two times per year and as needed
  • Teach lessons using age-appropriate activities (Colossians 4:6)
  • Change classroom books as needed to match current themes
  • Use current items to decorate classroom walls and hallway bulletin boards
  • Collect a minimum of two items per child monthly and file in individual portfolios
  • Attend Christmas Program, Open House, as well as other after hour events as needed
  • Attend staff, division meetings and devotions consistently
  • Performing some clerical tasks such as taking attendance, making copies, distributing classroom-related materials, maintaining classroom student files, collecting lunch money, collecting papers from students, passing out papers to students and keeping track of tallies and writing up daily tally reports
  • Earn a minimum of 10 Continuing Education hours per school year
  • VPK Assessment two times per year
  • Keep all (students, parents, staff) personal and medical information confidential
  • Be familiar with emergency protocols
  • Demonstrate the following character qualities: enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance and punctuality
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by supervisor (Romans 12:6)
