About The Position

Skyline Prep South Phoenix is searching for a Vice Principal of Instruction that shares in our mission to deliver the best quality education to our students. Responsibilities include supporting teaching staff on instructional practices and driving educational outcomes, student academic support/counseling, community connections, administrative leadership, and supervisory support. As a school leader it is essential to drive educational objectives, instructional practices that yield high standards of student achievement, community support, and overall school morale. The primary function of this job is to oversee instructional delivery, support and ensure overall success of the educational platform among students and teachers. Provide comprehensive school-based instructional support and ensure effective delivery of daily instruction. This position is second in command on the school site and reports directly to the Principal. Continually advance school culture through comprehensive instructional support, data driven supports within academic, social/emotional and support with career development for all students. Provide a comprehensive and quality instructional program while maintaining the academic and culture of the school including but not limited to support in building student schedules, mapping career plans, developing scholarship programs, growing social/emotional programs, and promoting student development by collaborating with students, parents, teachers, community organizations, businesses, universities, community colleges and technical schools.

Requirements

  • Models Skyline Education’s standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (soft skills).
  • Excellent computer skills with but not limited to MS Office, Google, web-based systems.
  • Experience as a teacher developer, trainer, and/or supervisor of teachers.
  • Leadership ability in school administration, curriculum development, program evaluation, staff development, school improvement, and staff supervision.
  • Experience recruiting students and families, developing programs to achieve school mission.
  • High level of personal integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Takes initiative, displays a strong work ethic, and pays attention to detail.
  • Endeavors to help colleagues.
  • Preferred Master’s Degree in Education or related Field.
  • Ability or desire to obtain a Principal certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a leadership role or lead role.
  • Recommended three (3) years of proven, successful experience as a classroom teacher.
  • Participates in a continuing professional development program, maintaining a high level of competence in the field of education.
  • Active Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Counseling certification a plus.
  • Experience with a variety of online educational systems preferred (testing systems, curriculum resources, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Works as second in command on campus as the Vice Principal of Instruction
  • Works as part of the administrative team.
  • Work with Dean on orientation for all incoming students and parents, as well as for all transfer students.
  • Works with Registrar on all aspects of student enrollment.
  • Understand and manage school level course catalog, calendar and academic professional development.
  • Ensure all student school schedules are properly completed by Dean.
  • Support with careers, college entrance, financial aid, scholarships, field trips and other related data to students and parents.
  • Ensure accurate records are kept for scheduling, files, and all other mandated information.
  • Communication to parents including periodic newsletters, academic/citizenship reports, phone contacts and websites.
  • Administration and interpretation of state and district mandated testing.
  • Understands, supports, produces, and manages student academic data in conjunction with Principal.
  • Participates in PLC to support student academic advancement.
  • Supports in evaluation of teachers as directed by the Principal.
  • Understands and supports curriculum resources and educational pedagogy.
  • Understands and analyzes student academic data.
  • Lead in the facilitation & execution of EL programs as needed.
  • Participates as needed in Individual Educational Plan meetings and Child Find Teams.
  • Works closely with all staff and students to ensure school culture development is effective.
  • Enrichment activities, conducted in the classroom in concert with the teacher, include such topics as decision-making and problem solving to help students develop a positive self-image.
  • Receives referrals and confers with students, parents, teachers, community agencies, and law enforcement; responds to and resolves parent and student concerns and complaints; serves on discipline or reports to expulsion panels as assigned.
  • Ensures policies and procedures around student behavior are followed.
  • Supervises students on campus and during off campus activities as assigned.
  • Monitors and organizes attendance functions; prepares letters, calls parents, and attends meetings as needed, regarding absent or tardy students.
  • Establishes and maintains a safe, productive, collaborative learning environment for all.
  • Recess and lunch duty daily if needed and monitors staff schedules and their duty times.
  • Manages summer school students and programs.
  • Substitutes as needed.
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties to assist the Principal in managing the school; assumes the duties of the Principal in the absence of the Principal and as assigned.
  • Teaches, attends, and works with mentoring program, Professional Development days and school training program
  • Assists the Principal in providing instructional leadership to the school.
  • Supports with community events and student program development.
  • Supports with behavior as needed.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
