About The Position

Join the YMCA of Middle Tennessee as a 2026-2027 SAS Site Assistant, Afternoons - Ruby Major Elementary School and be part of a team that helps children grow socially, physically, spiritually, and mentally in a fun, safe, and engaging environment! This is a part-time position for the 2026-2027 school year, specifically for after-school care from 2pm to 6pm, Monday through Friday. This is not a temporary or summer-only position.

Requirements

• Minimum Age: 18
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enthusiastic, organized, and team-oriented individuals with a passion for youth development.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to multitask.
• Must be available Monday through Friday
• Must be able to commit to ongoing employment during the 2026–2027 school year
• Orientation (before first shift)
• DHS Background Check (before first shift)
• Fingerprinting (before first shift)
• Abuse Registry Check (before first shift)
• Health forms (before first shift)
• Training sessions (before first shift)
• References (before first shift)
• CPR/First Aid/AED (Infant/Pediatric) (within 30 days of hire)

Responsibilities

• Actively lead and engage a group of 15–20 children in activities, inside and outside.
• Set up and transform program spaces into child-friendly environments and ensure cleanliness.
• Help plan and implement a quality curriculum aligned with YMCA guidelines.
• Build positive relationships with YMCA staff, school personnel, and families.
• Ensure site licensing and quality standards are maintained.
