About the position

The Cattle Sales Intern position at Merck is a field-based internship within the Animal Health Division, designed for students pursuing degrees related to Animal Science, Agribusiness, or Veterinary studies. This 12-week internship will provide hands-on experience in supporting sales strategies and engaging with customers across the Southeast region, particularly in Tennessee. Interns will work closely with veterinarians, dealers, and livestock producers to promote and support the company's Animal Health products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Support and service the Animal Health product portfolio.
  • Promote the sales and success of Animal Health products and services, including Bio-Pharma products and livestock monitoring services.
  • Assist veterinarians, dealers, and livestock producers in using the company's products.
  • Provide logistical support for market field trials in collaboration with Sales and Tech Services.
  • Develop and execute plans for engaging customers and meeting their needs.
  • Participate in field-based events, including trade shows and customer education regarding Animal Health products.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Animal Science, Agribusiness, Veterinary School, or an Animal Health related degree program.
  • Completed at least 2 years of college coursework by June 2025.
  • Must be 20 years of age or older to meet rental car agreement criteria.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a vehicle.
  • Available to work full-time for 12 weeks starting on May 19, 2025.
  • Ability to travel 75%.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • General computer skills, including knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and ability to use an iPad.
  • Ability to be organized, adapt to a changing environment, and work independently as well as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic knowledge of the Animal Health and Animal Feed industries.
  • Retail and/or customer service experience.
  • Sales training and/or applied sales experience.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Additional language fluency is highly desirable.
