About The Position

The Capital School District is seeking Summer School PreK Teachers for the 2025 summer session. The position is for a term from July 1 to August 7, with classes held Monday through Thursday. The teachers will report to the Building Principal and will be compensated at a per diem rate for Capital Employees or at a standard teacher rate of $39.76 per hour for Non-Capital Employees, provided they can show proof of teacher certification.

Requirements

• Current or eligible to hold Delaware certification as an Early Childhood special education teacher.
• Experience with students who have moderate to severe disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Teach students with disabilities.
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide reports as required, notifying parents of student progress when necessary.
• Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking assistance from district specialists as required.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
