The 2025 Summer Intern position in Sustainable Workplaces at General Motors (GM) is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. This internship is categorized as onsite, requiring the successful candidate to report to the Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, on a full-time basis. The role may also involve opportunities to work from other GM locations in the Southeast Michigan area as projects arise. The Projects and Strategies engineering team, which the intern will be part of, is responsible for supporting all facilities equipment, including power distribution and mechanical systems, within GM's North America portfolio. This portfolio encompasses a variety of facilities such as battery manufacturing plants, vehicle assembly lines, stamping plants, global propulsion facilities, components plants, office spaces, testing laboratories, and customer care areas. The team acts as a lead consultant for new construction projects and site retrofitting, ensuring adherence to design standards and validating design approaches. Additionally, the team addresses existing operations by troubleshooting equipment failures and researching new applications to enhance current systems. As an intern, you will be responsible for supporting site facility infrastructure projects, collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. You will attend site visits to investigate or validate equipment and process applications, lead and participate in safety review discussions focusing on system design and operation, and support the validation and updates for corporate standards.
