About The Position

2025 Summer Intern - Molecular Point of Care Development. We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love. Department Summary Molecular Point of Care Development carries out product development activities for the cobas liat platform. Both assay and system development work is performed throughout product life cycle. This internship position is located in Pleasanton, CA on-site.

Requirements

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student) or have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program).
• Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student) or have attained a Master's Degree.
• Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student) or have attained a PhD.
• Required Majors: Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Microbiology or Immunology.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with molecular techniques such as nucleic acid purification and PCR would be ideal, but not required.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop assays for the detection of infectious agents in the cobas liat System.
• Test new reagent formulations.
• Examine assay performance (e.g., sensitivity, specificity).
• Test samples, including clinical samples.
• Analyze data.
• Present data in lab meetings.
• Present a poster at the end of the internship.
