About The Position

The Molecular Lab Research and Early Development invents future molecular diagnostics by designing prototype molecular diagnostic systems and assays for many disease areas. You will have the opportunity to contribute towards the design and optimization of prototype molecular diagnostics assays for use by our Development Networks or Pharma Partners. This internship position is located in Pleasanton, on-site.

Requirements

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).
• Required Majors: Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related.
• Ability to design or eager to learn the execution of relevant laboratory workflows and determine next steps within the context of overall project goals and direction.
• Experience in or eager to learn sample preparation, NGS, DNA/RNA extraction, pre-analytics, qPCR, digital PCR, and other standard molecular biology techniques.
• Competent in or eager to learn the preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and monitor laboratory experiments utilizing established and published procedures, and technical and theoretical understanding.
• Analyze experimental data using various data analysis software and/or applying quantitative methods.
• Assume responsibility for at least one project, the results of which will be presented to the larger Roche community towards the end of the internship.
