About The Position

Servco's internship program is an opportunity for top students to gain relevant work experience in various areas. Internship positions are only available in Hawaii. The program offers interns challenging and meaningful work that allows them to demonstrate their abilities, apply knowledge acquired through college courses, and be evaluated for possible future employment opportunities within Servco. Our internships create opportunities for interns to establish important relationships with experienced professionals. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) in person internship program which spans over a period of 8 weeks (06/16-08/08). Servco is looking for a summer intern to join its Accounting & Financial Services department. In this position, you will rotate within the department to gain valuable real world accounting experience. As part of the Accounting & Financial Services rotation, you will be exposed to general ledger, automotive (retail and distribution), and operational (credit, payables, cash) accounting. Our goal is to get you involved with real accounting projects and transactions.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or graduated within the last 6 months from a college/university program
  • Previous experience with volunteer work, school/student activities, leadership roles, etc.
  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision, and complete tasks as assigned
  • Ability to build effective relationships and establish partnerships to accomplish goals
  • Completion of at least one introductory accounting course in college/university program

Responsibilities

  • Participates in a structured learning program covering Servco as an organization and their respective business area
  • Gain exposure to different career opportunities and the corporate environment through meaningful and increasingly responsible work and/or defined project assignments
  • Performs clerical functions as assigned to assist department with various projects
  • Fulfils various program requirements, makes presentations, and/or participates in additional developmental and skill building opportunities
  • Complete monthly close and quarterly close tasks, as assigned
  • Perform financial review and variance analysis, as assigned
  • Complete assigned account reconciliations, with discrepancies and outstanding items resolved in an accurate and timely manner
  • Gain a basic understanding of the Company's financial systems
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Partner with other divisional accounting teams on the mainland and abroad
  • Provide support services to stakeholders as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Benefits

  • This is an hourly/paid internship position. All selected interns are responsible for their own housing accommodations and relocation expenses
  • The pay rate for this position is $17.00 per hour
